The Durham Center for Senior Life Senior Center, located at 406 Rigsbee Avenue, is a dedicated senior center, serving older adults of Durham County. The building, which is owned by the County of Durham, sits on land donated by the City of Durham. A $5.5 M bond referendum supported construction of the 35,180 square foot facility that celebrated its grand opening on May 19, 2006.
The Senior Center is operated by Durham Center for Senior Life (DCSL), an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In addition to the drop-in senior center, the downtown senior center also houses DCSL’s Adult Day Health Center.
The Senior Center has a computer lab, exercise equipment room, Arts & Crafts area, TV lounge and game room with a Wii, pool table and ping pong table. In addition, there are several rooms for classes, meetings and exercise space.
